Welcome to Creative Quilled Creations!
Hello- my name is Jennifer and my passion is paper quilling, also known as paper filigree. This art started in Europe during the 1500s and became very popular during the Victorian period. Quilling made its way to the United States during this time where it was used to decorate tables, wall sconces, tea trays and cribbage boards. A variety of beautiful work from this time period can still be seen in museums around the U.S. including Colonial Williamsburg and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
What is quilling? Quilling is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils, pinching the coils into basic shapes, then gluing the shapes together to make an endless variety of designs. The quilled pieces can then be used to decorate scrapbooks, cards, boxes, frames, and can even be made into three-dimensional figures or jewelry. Quilling is easy to learn, fun to do, and makes unique gifts!
At my site you can find information about quilling news and events, free patterns that I have created, and links to sites that offer wonderful quilling supplies and product.
